Hoy Final Table Comments
In my defense, theres not much pushing I'm going to do with 6 2- 9 5o, which were honeslty the cards I got for about 3 consecutive orbits.
If I ran into any suited connector or pair, it went in, and I actually stole with off suited gappers twice.
I recognized three things as well at that FT...
1) Big stack shoved everyhand (as they should) - If I had any defensible hand it went in (twice) and I stole
2) everyone else was pretty much playing the same cautious poker, so I can figure that waiting for as much as a medium hand in position will be a good spot to shove.
3) I'm definately not playing for the money. The only prize was first for the seat, so, being short I stole when I could, and waited for my shot at a double up knowing I would get it when I had a big hand
4) I got up from 18k to 30k at one point and raised from the c/o only to get rejammed, and had to fold.
At that FT, down to 7, I recognized the play, and knowing the capacity to call the shorty, so I can't necessarily shove without a medium hand, soooted connectors, etc..
I came to that table last in chips, and pretty much stayed there for about 5 orbits. I managed to sustain that level of chips, stealing at least once an orbit, then doubling up off of Snail.
It was a frustrating table and once I got below 20k at any point, I stole with atc.
What is at stake here, IMO, is going to make these FT play like that from here until its over. That sat seat is a beautiful thing, the largest ever, and people want it. And, with the fields as large as they are, you'd have to be Bayne to think you will get to multiple FT's, so the one you are in now might be your only shot... this will dictate the weak/tightness that was displayed on Monday.
Again, not saying its right, just get used to it...

DONATIONS, DONATIONS... I thought it was the trash!
The organization isn't run very well, so I decided to take conrol of our teams and run them as a separate entity. The parents dig it, and we coach their girls to understand the game first, then winnning second. Although we were undefeated our two previous season, this year is turning out to be a little more competitive because of a new league we will be competing in. For 9 year old girls, we have some talent. It'll be fun to say the least...
Anyway, the point is, I had a coaches meeting after practice, which made me about 45 minutes late for the Hoy. I was surprised to see 82 again in the field. I thought word might have spread a little farther and expected to see closer to 100. Still, the buyin might have something to do with it as opposed to The MOOK and the RC...
When I got to the table, I was down to only about 2500. I got lucky twice shoving QJ (with only 1400 left) from the BB into Evy's blind steal. Only she had AQ. I hit a J and doubled up. Then the same thing happened again when I shoved AJ into QQ and caught two J's.
I got up to about 30k at one point, never getting lucky (or unlucky) again until I finally went out in 4th.
Worm and Magician went heads up and continued to play, flipping stacks back and forth like a heads vs. tails tournament. I couldn't keep my eyes open and fell asleep. They played HU for quite a while.
I did manage to see Smokee blowing Mag this time, although not as much as he did Lucko at the final table of the Riverchasers tourny on thurs. Those comments really crack me up. One was, "why even have the TOC? Just let these two monsters play it heads up and save everyone some time"
I was a shorty at the final table the whole time until I doubled off of Snailtrax when he open raised A7 sooted into my AJ. I dissapointed Fuel once by folding a limped presto early on at the FT to get shoved by the BB. I didn't feel like racing (being dominated) and figured I would pick a better spot.
Mookie tomorrow night, and RC on Thursday. See you all there!

I swear if I find out who did this I'm going to rip out their eyes, I'm going to suck their F$%king Skull!
I am a baseball fan so I watched about 20 minutes of the game. My wife had the TV most of the night with her mind numbing, gut wrenching, primetime drama series... I got to click over to the game(s) every so often, but filled most of my time playing some sng's...
I wanted to watch the premier of the lost book of Nostradmus on the history channel, but was overruled by the wifey. It came back for a repeat at 1am til 3am, and I didn't make it. I'm sure I'll catch it sometime this week as it is their MO to repeat the shit out of it.
One interesting tid bit I got between Carlos and Abbie, and the Senator and his pregnant non-wife was the fact that Arod has opted out of his contract with the spanky's.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let some aborition of something absolutely insane happen with the current ownership of the phililes, and allow them to at least entertain the possibility of speaking with Boras and Arod to try and see if there would be a fit there (here)...
possible starting lineup:
- Jimmy Rollins
- Chase Utley
- Arod
- Ryan Howard
- Pat Burrel
- Who cares
- Who cares
get the point?
Christ, I could pitch if that were the case... I know, I'm dreaming, but imagine the possibilites!!!
Hoy tonight, get 'er done!

Riggs cant hang
Then the drinking commences. I always purposely leave my laptop at home so I have an excuse to leave early in order to get home in time to participate in any of the daily online tournaments we have, and I preregister for.
Unfortunatley, I am weak. I never leave. I tell my wife I'll be home by 8:30, and walk (stumble) in anywhere from 12:30 to 2:30.
I'm not complaining. the man is a criminal. Keeping up with Al is almost impossible. If these were college days, I would be banished to an outpatient treatment center by the afternoon Calc class...
So last night I was entered into Kats Donkament and had every good intention to get home and donk it up. Instead, I succumed to the booze, and Al's charming personality and stayed at the boat. We fired up his laptop and played two simultaneous $2 tournies, one for him, one for me.
Al got down to T125. I went out on a flopped flush draw jam when I didn't hit. Round one he wins. (He came back from T125 and took third.)
We logged him out and I logged in under my name to get to Kats donkamnet. There was about 10 minutes left in the rebuy period and I had blinded down to T500 or so.
I checked auto rebuy and shoved the first hand which missed. Then I shoved the next hand and doubled up. Al was about to log me out when I saw 99. I shoved that, held, and got up to about T9000.
We logged out and went back to two more $2 sng's. We both cahsed in them and got back to Kats game.
The bar closed and we were forced to shove every hand. We closed up and left the bar to take Al home. I don't know how I did it, but I managed to ignore Als desire to take a left to another bar, or a right to his house. I cried no mas and made the right.
GG me. I apologize to anyone at Kats tourny for any comments that might have been construed hurtful. It was a combination of both Al and me being silly inhebriated and nonsensical. I'm sure you all know that already, but I can't exactly remember how hurtful they were so there is my mea culpa
I think by the end of the night we carved out some of next years wish list for prizes for the BBT.
Here is the list we came up with ... and they all started out with "wouldn't it be cool??!!"
- House in Key West
- a chartered Boeing 757 to take the winner all over the world to play in every event. (sponsored entry of course)
- lifetime membership in the Bacon of the month club
- Date with Waffles
- a year exemption into the UFC
- Life time open bar tab at the Boat.

Dookie Rules!

Mookie sucks balls
acutally going out wasn't the problem. It was getting cut in half when I jam with QQ to get called by KQ and of course the K hits...
Tilted up I finally shove 99 to a $300 raise from waffles for my last $2100 only to get called by, of course, QQ and IGH...
Razz is next in the dookie because I really hate myself right now!
RIVERCHASERS tomorrow night.. be there.
In the very least you wil be entertained by Waffles!

CREW! (shoot 'em!) CREW!
I managed to get back up to 6k only to lose the race with Waffles when his 99 held against my open shove with AK... GG me.
One particular hand that I received some guff for was early on... I had built up to a pretty good stack early, first level around 3900. I was getting cards and decided to play them rather aggressively... QQ, JJ, AK, and so on, never really getting past flop bets.
I had to fold JJ once after some flop action and I had to fold AK after reraising the flop to see where I was which brought me down to under 2400 in chips.
At this point I go on to fold for a good 30 minutes. And when the hand in question occurs I check my hand stats... 12 hands out of 87 played.
I raise from the cutoff with AQ, BB calls (he has 4500+ in chips) ... flop brings an Ace...
He checks, I pot it, and he reraises to about 1000 more...
His smooth call pre didn't tell me AK at all. Not for one second did I even consider that hand, at worst I figured he may have hit his rag kicker, but I also just commited about 1/2 of my stack with the preflop and flop raises so I'm not going away.
I shove all in, he insta calls, and shows AK... I spike a Q on the turn and scoop the pot...
He then asks "you didn't put me on AK?"... I told him the smooth call screamed absolutely not, and he stated i was being very aggressive ans hoped to trap me into a hand such as that one...
The problem was I hadn't played a hand in about 20 of them. I was being aggressive early on, but with premium starting hands, and knocked that off when it got cold.
Obviously I got lucky hitting the Queen, I just don't see how I can put him on AK there...
He has a bigger stack, he calls from the bb to a pot raise from the cutoff, I call his re and I'm basically in, sure he could have hit his rag kicker putting me behind to a Q again, but I made the decision. I had nothing left after the flop raise, at least not enough to justify folding there, IMO...
I didn't screen shot it, and I don't remember the opponents ID (pk something)...
Bottom line is he tried to trap and it worked perfectly... I had no reason to think he has AK there. So I was outplayed, and then outdrew him... So be it.
the point is there is no way I'm folding after my flop raise with my short stack already 1/2 or 1/3 even committed... Its still early on and with that much in the pot and my pre flop aggression just called, My TP SK is going in. I am not trying to hold on there with less than 1k in chips left after a fold to a re...
I stick it in.. if its good I move on, if its not, I stop wasting time playing shorty very early...

I guess it's just futile...
I'm sitting 5th in chips with 5670.. and I pick up this hand in the cutoff, folds to me and I pot to 560. One caller. Flop comes and Katiemother bets 800, I shove all of it...
with a flop of 3 J 4 (two clubs) what do you think I have? A flush draw? For most of my stack??
AJ with a 560 preflop bet is suspect as it is, let alone a flop Jam for your tourney...
Jack Asses! ( I mean Ace's)
Last week it was my KK vs. QQ flopping a Q and ending my top 5 position again.
FU rng! Have a blast tards :(
No worries though.. HOY tomorrow, Mookie on Wed, and RPT on Thurs...
I'll be shoving every KK I get preflop! No more flops for you

I had coffee with McCollough, HALF AN HOUR AGO!
I will be playing Kats donkament again tonight since I haven't been able to play for several weeks due to live games that just have to be played. Although I believe tonights event must be played because it is the last real chance you have to get your blasting, donkey ways out of your system before the real challenge starts....
So good luck and see you there... BTW, I also have some thoughts on some things Hoy writes about in his latest posts which I don't have the time to reply now, but will do so maybe this afternoon or this evening...

Michael, We're bigger than US steel!
I pot utg for 175
he reraises pre to 450
folds to me I call... now he def could have an over pair here, so best to be cautious but I am going to see a flop heads up with JJ.
Flop comes Q x x - Now to figure out where I'm at, or more importantly where he is, I bet.. the pot is 960 and I put 800 into it.
He waits and smooths.. now, Obviously I put him on a big Ace, possibly AQ but i think he jams thte flop with AQ so the smooth call screams a bigger pair or an under pair...maybe 10's
We both check the turn...
The river brings x again and I just couldn't get unstuck from him having 10's... Slow playing QQ was discounted because there was one on the flop, and I figured his cautious and slow calls where the result of either 10 10 or a missed big Ace.
I checked the river m he put out a small bet, I jammed (sure of him having 10 -10 ) and he calls with QQ.. GG me
Anyway, I looked at the google analytics for my site and the strangest thing has happened. Crazy hits from Europe and the south pacific. Including thai land, Japan, and china.
I put word out of the BBT2 challenge to some colleagues and friends from EU and other places and it is spreading like wild fire... We'll see what the field brings but it should be a very fun time. I also have some pro friends who are likely to play all or most of the events... more on that shortly...
One more warm up for the start of the challenge is tonight on FT

Whats wrong with lumber yards? I own three of them
It looks to be a very busy year, with the Tour, and 2 other projects I have going on. So I was particularily interested in the end of this year...
So, I will be heading to Niagra at the end of this month to meet with Beth fischman, This_GUYS sister, who I am working with on some deals for a few of the professional donkeys (since we all are donkeys, that is). I will try to drag this_guy up with me because we will also be meeting this_guy (who still owes me $100 on a prop bet from the last bash at the boathouse :) )...
then its off to Vegas for the blogger thingy with Al again, then hopefully, just maybe, the Aussie tourny down under.
Of course all of this d'pends soley on wether or not the kids blow up, the wife blows up, or the business side of things blow up, all which are entirely capable.
And my version of "blowing up" is completely different from the wifes version.
Blowing up of the kids for me would mean that something extremely bad or good happened in such a way that it would be life changing... her version is someone lost a shoe.
Hopefully a missing ballet slipper won't keep me from meeting with, playing in, and all together being productive in all the poker things I (we) love so much...
On a side note, this_guy put a post up about having no interest of late in playing online poker...
To that I say, it is a job. We all love our work. As much as we say we don't, we do. and if you truly don't, then you are one sad person who must find what to do with your life. (I digress).
and even at our professional jobs, we find spots of disinterest, but we forge ahead. So fire back up your new laptop and get after it. There is too much at stake. the one hand you miss during this lull might be the one you recall 15 years from now when you are at the WSOP at a critical juncture...

Law just don't go around here Mr. Lawdog, Savy?
It is also the time of year where the companies that I work with want to get everything done before the new year so that budgets can be constructed, manipulated, and over planned for the new coming fiscal year.
This adds up to no time for me. NONE!
I missed Al three times this week as we prepare to launch something very cool for all of the internets people, the RPT, and anyone else who wishes to participate. so as Al states in his blog, fill up on those tokens... It will be worth it...
Poker has been dull for me the last week or so. I had a huge chip lead at the HOY on
monday only to get 2 outed by another chip stack, build back up to 7k, and bubble the FT.
Mook was less exciting and not even notable. I have been cold decked so badly that it is even worth discussing. all I can say is that I will follow my own advice and play through it.
I will miss the donkament tomorrow because of an event I must attend but will be back for the Hoy on Monday....

2012 the apocolypse!
an I love this shit too! Can't get enough! Eat it up as if its the last meal I'll have.
There are already numerous shows, articles, books, websites, and all sorts of things pointing to this date Dec. 12th, 2012. Mainly for one reason as I can tell from what I've read so far. That would be that the Mayan calendar ends on this date.
I can't get over how many people jump on board with this kind of stuff.. Are peoples lives that bad that this is what they get excited about? Don't tell me its fear, because there is nothing to fear. I believe the folks that get into this type of thins truly want the world to end. For whatever reasons... But its absolutely comical to me.
Anywho... Play the Hoy tonight on FT...
10pm est
$24+$2
pass is hammer
see you there...

I don't care if they're greek columns, or second hand steinways...
Really sucks the life out of me :)
and every week, Al sends me about 20 texts that simply say "boat?".. to which I respond "breeder"...
The good thing is that there is usually 4 days of the week that he is there at a set scheduled time, so its about time I can get down there for what seems to be a once a month "meeting with the guy who runs the online tour"... (conversation with wife)
Hopefully this Thursday Al! looking forward to getting smashed under the pretense of productivity!!

do you believe in Friendship Wyatt Earp?
For those of you who just don't get it, its like finding a loved one trapped under a building that had just fallen on them, and you picking the building up with your own hands, freeing that person, and then finding out that there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. not a scratch!
then realizing that you where being watched by a crowd, and they're all cheering you on. you feel like a celebrity, a superstar! The WORLD is OURS!!!
Well, maybe not that drastic but think about this... The phillies have gone 13 years without a playoff appearance. 13! and before that was another 12! and before that.. you get the picture.
Just a very fun time to be a fan of the phils. I actually bought a ticket oackage this year for 17 games. I only got to go to about 4 of those games, but it was a blast. Congrats to the boys and all of the fans who so much deserve to celebrate the win!
As for the Eagles... I mean god! I can understand having an off day, but as a coach, aren't you somewhat responsible to take care of something as it happens? 8 sacks from one guy wasn't enough? I mean how much more could one player be so dominated by another, and why isn't the coach doing something about it? No help from a Tight End? No adjustments?
giants ended up getting a team record 12 sacks, and I can't imagine that there were at least another 4 that could have been...
there is nothing else I can say about it. Just have to wait til next week and see who shows up. The eagles, or the E A G L E S eagles!
one last comment on Football... God Bless the tard who decided to end Marty Shot's tenure as head coach of those San diego Chargers. 14-2 and he goes away! now they are 1-3! Maybe he did have something to do with their success??? hhhmmmmmmmmm?
dopes!
