I have read some opinions on why Ivey making the final table is good for poker. I disagree. I don't think it's bad, but I think people are deriving this from the wrong perspective. I will post my opinion(s) and the Market effects of the UIGEA (which is partly written) very shortly.
Stay tuned...

Should be good for poker in that Harrah's will be forced to wake up and spend real $$$ trying to market the N9 featuring Ivey, which will help ESPN's ratings. But I don't think it is going to be a really big deal since Ivey is not enthusiastic about being a public figure.
Also, the big chipleader has zero charisma, so the Maryland everyman winning the WSoP won't be a reprise of Moneymaker since he's just going to vanish back into the woods.

I have a feeling that this is much ado about nothing. Prediction: Ivey gets sucked out in the first hour and all that hype will be for nothing.
You heard it here first.

hahaha, I don't know why all the hype about Ivey making the final table has spread like wildfire, he's a pro...he's supposed to. More hype should be spread about how much Phil Hellmuth sucks for NOT making it...and we should investigate how he won his previous bracelets.
